One of the region's largest accounting and management consulting firms has added a well-known executive to one of its fastest-growing divisions.

BST & Co. has hired Ellen Sax as philanthropic strategy consultant for its CMO for Hire division.

Sax brings 30 years of experience in corporate philanthropy to BST, having previously held senior executive positions at KeyBank and MVP Heath Care — a post she retired from last year.

“Ellen’s extensive experience helping corporations build and implement strategic philanthropic and community engagement programs, and her leadership in developing community partnerships and initiatives makes her the perfect addition to CMO for Hire as we expand our services into those areas,” said Susan Radzyminski, BST chief marketing officer and leader of CMO for Hire in a statement.

In addition to her corporate work, Sax has assisted many nonprofit organizations in developing new programs, identifying new funding sources and improving board engagement.

Sax was named to the Albany Business Review's Power 50 in both 2022 and 2024.

“Targeted giving can transform our communities as well as encourage engagement and therefore enhance the overall identity of a business. I am looking forward to working with BST’s talented professionals and sharing my expertise with clients whose giving goals and strategies will be advanced with a customized approach,” Sax said in a statement.

BST ranked No. 5 on last year's CPA Firms List with 43 CPAs in the Capital Region.

The firm started a virtual accounting division in 2016 to provide clients the option to outsource bookkeeping and other back office services. Since then, the firm acquired CFO for Hire in 2017, acquired an HR consulting practice a year later, and started CMO for Hire in 2021. All those divisions have seen growth in recent years, according to BST.

CMO for Hire offers marketing, brand communications, public relations and philanthropic and community engagement strategy services on a consulting or fractional basis to clients.
